Voices, sound effects and background music are generated with the picture: sound is always included. Put dialogue lines in quotation marks and describe the sounds at the end of the prompt.
In Reference mode, combine up to 16 images and videos to guide a character, a product, a place, a style or a camera move. ByteDance says the model reads the intention, framing and cinematic language of reference videos.
Split the scene with markers such as “0-6 s” or “6-14 s”: ByteDance says Seedance 2.5 understands them. Prompts can run to 30,000 characters on Deepnia.
ByteDance highlights professional-style camera movement, precise blocking of performers in the frame and smoother motion.

A 30-second ad in warm late-afternoon light. 0-6 s: the restaurant storefront from the first reference image, on a lively street, passers-by in the foreground. 6-14 s: slow close-ups of the dishes from the other two images, rising steam, fresh herbs. 14-22 s: a cook turns skewers on the grill, sparks and smoke. 22-30 s: a family shares the meal, laughing, as the camera gently pulls back. Sound: sizzling grill, street ambience, light instrumental music. No text or subtitles on screen.
A 20-second vertical video for a ready-to-wear label. A model wears the three outfits from the reference images one after another, matching the walk and rhythm of the reference video. Setting: a rooftop at sunset with the city behind. Cuts on the beat, waist shots then full-length shots, fabric moving in the wind. Sound: instrumental electronic music and footsteps. No on-screen text.
A 25-second cinematic teaser for an open-air concert in Johannesburg. 0-5 s: aerial view of the city at dusk. 5-12 s: crew members set up the stage, spotlights switch on one by one. 12-20 s: the crowd dances, arms raised, golden confetti. 20-25 s: slow-motion close-up of a drummer. Sound: building percussion, roaring crowd, one second of silence before the final drum hit. No subtitles.
A 15-second vertical comedy sketch. The character from the reference image, who sells phone accessories in a covered market, proudly stacks boxes. 0-5 s: he places the last box. 5-10 s: one box slips. 10-15 s: the whole stack collapses and he stares into the camera in despair. Sound: market chatter, comic sound effects, short upbeat music. No dialogue, no subtitles.
A 30-second video for a seaside hotel, aimed at international guests. Slow shots: palm trees at sunrise, a pool facing the ocean, a bright bedroom, a candlelit dinner on the beach. Calm male voice-over: "Wake up to the sound of the ocean." Sound: waves, birds, soft acoustic guitar. No on-screen text.
A 20-second documentary-style training video. A tailor shows step by step how to attach bias binding to a neckline: wide shot of the workshop, close-ups of his hands and the sewing machine, then the finished garment worn by a customer. Natural window light. Sound: humming machine, snipping scissors, workshop ambience, no music. No on-screen text.
