Which AI image generator should you use for your project?

Which AI image generator fits your project? Match each task (illustration, photo edit, series, readable text) to the right model and test it in Image Studio.

Choose an AI image generator by defining the output you need and the constraints it must satisfy. Creating a new scene, editing a photograph and preserving a product are different tasks. Then test two models in Image Studio on the same task, with written acceptance criteria. The most impressive demonstration is not automatically the best fit for your work.

Open Image Studio and start with Nano Banana 2 for everyday images, or with GPT Image 2 when the image must include text.

Define the deliverable before choosing a model

Describe what you are making: an article cover, an edited product photograph or an illustration for a presentation. Include the final shape, required elements and details that must remain unchanged. These constraints help turn a vague preference into a reviewable task.

“A beautiful image” is difficult to evaluate consistently. “A horizontal illustration with the subject on the right and space for a headline on the left” gives you observable criteria. For an edit, specify which parts of the source must be preserved.

Separate requirements from preferences. An attractive color palette may be a preference; the exact shape of a product may be essential. An appealing result that fails an essential constraint should not become acceptable simply because it receives a high aesthetic score.

Distinguish new-image creation from editing

Generating a scene from text and modifying an existing photograph are different workflows. Image Studio covers both: generation from text and editing with references.

For editing, examine the output: was the subject preserved, or recreated with changes? A broad resemblance can be insufficient when the image needs to represent a specific item accurately.

Prepare a preservation checklist for a face, background or product. Include details such as shape, visible fastenings or the placement of important elements. This makes fidelity easier to assess than choosing whichever output looks most flattering at first glance. For a product, Product Shooting creates packshots and lifestyle scenes from your photo; then check the label letter by letter. The guide to creating AI product photos explains the method.

List the technical constraints of your deliverable

Review the input and output capabilities of each model. Check formats, dimensions and relevant restrictions.

Read the conditions relevant to the project. Before uploading confidential references, examine the service’s data-handling information and resolve uncertainties that matter to your work.

Build a small set of representative tasks

Choose tasks similar to your actual deliverables rather than an elaborate prompt with no practical connection to your work. Here is an example for a small business preparing editorial and product imagery:

TaskMain acceptance criterionPossible reason to reject
Cover without a referenceCorrect compositionSubject occupies the headline area
Edit of an authorized photoProduct fidelityShape or color changes
Image with a short inscriptionExact wordingMisspelled or missing letters

If your work does not require lettering inside images, replace that task with a constraint relevant to your own project.

Keep the initial brief comparable

For a first pass, preserve the same intention, authorized reference materials and reasonably comparable output requirements. Example prompt for the cover-image test:

Photographic illustration of a closed notebook on a pale desk. Place the main subject on the right and leave a quiet area on the left for a headline. Soft window lighting, horizontal composition, no text or logos. Keep the entire notebook visible.

This prompt exposes clear criteria: subject position, available space, lighting and visibility.

You can run a second pass with prompts adjusted for each model. Keep it separate from the first. Otherwise, you may unknowingly compare a carefully tuned model with another used without equivalent preparation.

Evaluate requirements before visual style

Inspect each output at its intended display size and in detail. Start with fidelity, correct lettering, composition and blocking defects. Only then compare atmosphere or color preferences. A technically attractive image may still be unusable for the specified task.

Write concrete observations. “The notebook is cropped” or “the product fastening changed” explains a decision. “Less professional” needs clarification before another reviewer can use it consistently. Keep the checklist visible while assessing the outputs.

Preserve failures as well as successful images. Showing only the best result can conceal how many attempts were needed.

Make a decision scoped to the project

Summarize the selected model, task, reasons, limitations and verification date. You may choose one model for illustrations and another for editing, in the same Image Studio. A single overall ranking is not always the most useful way to organize production.

Before a large batch, finish one deliverable in its actual context. An image that looks suitable inside the generator may still require cropping, layout work or corrections that change your initial estimate. Test the complete task rather than stopping at an attractive preview. To organize production next, follow the guide to building an AI image creation workflow.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI image generator?

On Deepnia it depends on the task: Nano Banana 2 for everyday images, Nano Banana Pro or GPT Image 2 for demanding edits or text, Seedream v5.0 Lite Sequential for a series. Test two on your deliverable.

Which AI is best for readable text in an image?

GPT Image 2, built for text-rich images and detailed layouts. Check every letter before publishing; the guide to generating readable text in AI images explains the method.

Is one attempt enough?

It may reveal an obvious incompatibility, but it does not establish consistent performance. Run the same prompt two or three times before drawing broader conclusions.

Choose with a brief and an acceptance checklist

Prepare your deliverable and constraints, then open Image Studio and test Nano Banana 2 and GPT Image 2 on the same prompt. For clearer instructions, continue with the image prompt guide.
